REVIVAL, part 1
REVIVAL
Part 1
How many prayer-meetings have you attended where they pray for revival? I have been to many, but I am not always sure what we pray for. I am not an expert on revival-history, but I have read about quite a few revivals. I will start by writing about a revival that has to do with us as individuals before I write about the revival reaching many.
The first point goes like this: God, wake me!
Many of us have an alarm-clock waking us in the morning. As a pensioner I do not always need it and that is so nice. An alarm-clock is supposed to wake us up out of a sleeping condition. In Isaiah 50:4 it says that He awakens me morning by morning. I had a period in my life when the Lord could wake me up at night for prayers. He was very clear about the reasons for praying. He hasn’t done that lately. Now I work for Him during the day and I need a good night’s sleep.
I believe that all Christians are called to be carriers of revival and we need to be awake then. What do I mean by that? I believe that we must understand Who is living on the inside of us and what He has done for us and what He has given to us. If we are going to share with others, we must know what we have in order to give. Jesus cried out on the Cross: “It is finished!” Jesus has the solutions for all our spiritual and physical problems, but He doesn’t only have the solutions, but He is the solution.
I presume that you already have received Jesus as your Savior and that He has moved into your spirit. In Philippians 2:12 it says that we should work on the salvation of our soul. Many Christians are lazy and they do not do anything to clean their soul. These sisters and brothers need to get a wake-up call. Are you ready? The Bridegroom is coming soon for His spotless bride. Jesus is the Bridegroom and we Christians are the Bride. There were ten virgins, but only five were ready and had oil on their lamps. Are you ready and have oil on your lamp?
It is written that we are in the world, but not of the world. Some Christians live like in a bubble. They do not know much about what is going on in the world. They are like the ostrich and they do not take their head out of the sand. The devil is the ruler over the earth after the fall of man, but we Christians are salt and light and we are supposed to rule over ourselves, our family and the areas where God wants us to rule. The world would look much worse if we Christians hadn’t been here. We are called to pray and in 1.Timothy 2:4 it says that we first and foremost should pray for the king and those in high positions. If we are supposed to pray for the world, we need to know what is going on around us. I want to be informed, but I want to know the source of the information. Many news is based on lies.
Jesus says in Matthew 28:19 that we should go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Some Christians do not care about anybody outside their own family and friends. They do not think about all those that are on their way to hell or those that never heard about Jesus. I do not think that we really understand the seriousness of being lost. We need a wake-up call. God must give us a burden for those that haven’t received the King of King and the Lord of Lord.
2020 is the year of the Bible. I am part of an organization spreading the Bible and Christian literature all around the world in many languages. One receives testimonies from happy people that have experienced a changed life. It is dangerous to spread the Gospel in some countries and some people risk their lives in order to spread the Word. These people are seriously hungry for the Word. Are you and I that hungry? I have Bibles around me in different languages and interpretations, but I need a grater hunger. Should we pray for a Bible-revival?
The situation in the world is quite bad and the devil seems to be loose. Things that before were considered holy, are not respected any longer. That has led to the fact that some are saying: This is enough! Prayer movements are rising in different countries. We need a prayer-revival. I have never experienced anything being birth without prayers. I wish that the different prayer-movements should lay down their own agenda and come together as one. Today they might fight against each other instead.
Many Christians are so busy with activities that they forget the Lord. We need to come back to the first love. Jesus is absolutely the most important person in our life. He is alpha and omega, the beginning and the end. What kind of relationship do you have to Him? How much time do you spend with Him every day? With Him we receive peace, love and power.
When you pray for revival, ask for your personal revival before you think of everybody else.
