HOW DO WE KEEP TO THE TRUTH DURING A TIME OF CONFUSION?
HOW DO WE KEEP TO THE TRUTH DURING A TIME OF CONFUSION?
Part 1
I have never been so convinced that we live in the last days as I am now. I do not know the amount of days or years we have left before Jesus returns and I am not supposed to know either. The Bible is clear about that. See Matthew 24:36. You must never rely on prophecies that are dating the return of Christ. You can read the entire Matthew 24 prophesying the events that will take place prior to His returning. Some of them are rather scaring. It shows how individuals might act and what will happen in the world. Some of these events have already started.
Today I will write about something that takes place in a big church where I live. A well- known faith preacher is changing his theology and in some subjects he is going from one extreme to the other. He is removing some of his former books and written new ones with the new theories. He has changed his view on baptism as well as the communion. He regularly travels to the pope and takes big groups from his own church as well as from others with him to the pope. Some of the leaders and members of the church have converted to Catholicism. Others are following the leader without questioning his changes. Everything he does is fine. These are not founded in the Word of God and they do not have their identity in Christ. I am often contacted by people who are confused and many are crying in sorrow. These people are suffering, but I am glad that they are not blinded like the others. The last group must be careful in order to avoid disappointment, bitterness and anger. Our battle is not against flesh and blood.
We must forgive people and keep to the truth!
My emotions can easily be activated and I have to ask God for help. I do not want to be led by my emotions, but by the Spirit. We can have a holy wrath and I want to keep that. Jesus had a holy wrath many times, but He didn’t sin. I want us to see how Jesus kept to the truth without compromising, but He didn’t curse anybody. He cursed a barren fig tree. It was dead. If we are dead and without any fruit, we will eventually be cut off the tree as well. Dead branches steal power from the other branches that bear much fruit. Jesus was often attacked by Pharisees and Sadducees. He often warned His disciples for their leaven. It took some time before they understood that He was warning them from their teaching. The disciples were simple men and some of them were fishermen and they didn’t understand the symbolism that Jesus often used.
Both the Lord and I love the Catholics, but I was scared when I read their teaching and compared that with the Word of God. The common Catholic has not been able to read the Bible for more than approximately fifty years. Their teaching says that one becomes saved through seven sacraments and not through the sacrifice of Jesus. The Bible says that we are sinners saved by grace. That is the good news. I do believe that there are Catholics receiving Jesus and get saved, but they have opposed the teaching of the church. I have talked to people from different Catholic countries and many of them were told as children that Jesus is angry and therefore they must pray to His mother whom He likes. She can soften Him. Just think of how this hurts Jesus Who has suffered so much for you and me. The Catholics believe the seven sacraments can save them and they must go through a purgatory after death. The church can also receive some money, the more the better, in order to ease this process. Nothing is written about this in the Bible. On the contrary, we read in the Acts 2:21 that whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved. In the letter to the Romans 10:9+10 we read: “If you confess with your mouth that the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.” I also want to mention Eph.2:8 writing that we are saved by grace. We are saved through faith and it is a gift from God.
Many talk about unity today. I can very well be a friend of a Catholic, but we are not sisters and brothers unless we accept Jesus as the only way to God and that He took our sins on the Cross. (Is.54:4+5)
I turn to the Cross as the foundation for my salvation. Jesus conquered death and rose from the dead. When I receive Jesus, His life and His resurrection power is moving into me and I become a new creation. (1.Cor.5:17)
I do accept that there are many different church societies and we can disagree about certain faith questions, but we must all have gone through the Cross in order to have a unity. We cannot call ourselves Christians or children of God if we have not received Jesus as our Lord and Savior. We have a common Father and a common God and we can thank Jesus Who by His blood opened the way to the Father.
I am writing about this since so many are talking about another kind of unity. Many well-known church leaders signed in 2007 a manifest saying that our God, Allah and the God of the Jews is the same. I do believe that the Jews worship our God, but they have rejected Jesus and they will not be saved before they accept Him as their Savior. The Muslims are not worshipping our God. They accept Jesus as a prophet, but not as the only Son of God. The Muslims are building their religion on deeds and all religions are actually doing the same.
Jesus says in John 14:6 “I am the way, the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.”
I choose to believe in the Word of God and not to follow the voices claiming that there are many ways of entering heaven. In the period between Adam and Jesus, no one could come directly to the Father, but when Jesus became the atonement for our sins, the graves were opened and there was a parade of victory to heaven. Read more about this in Matthew 27.
We do not meet a lot of resistance when we talk about God. Many say that they believe in a higher power. The resistance comes when one shares the gospel and talk about Jesus. We can read that he is like the cornerstone that the builders rejected. (Acts 4:11 and Psalm 118:22)
You and I must proclaim Jesus, the crucified and resurrected Jesus, our Lord and Savior.
If you are a Catholic, I really do not want you to think that I am against you. I just want you to go to the Bible. That’s the source of truth. None of us is without sin, neither the pope, nor you and I. When commandments made by men are in disagreement with the Word of God, we must choose the Word.
I HAVE CHOSEN THE WORD OF GOD AS MY HIGHEST AUTHORITY. I RECOMMEND THAT YOU DO THE SAME!
