Sermon 2024

DO NOT TAKE VACATION FROM GOD!

DO NOT TAKE VACATION FROM GOD! Summer is a time of relaxation, a time for vacation. Many are having vacation for four or five weeks. Students might have two months. Some older students might work during the summer. June, July and August are used for vacation here in Scandinavia. The time for vacation might be different in other places of the world. Some younger students think that the vacation is too long, and they do not know what to do and some get bored. If you have grandparents, you might ... (read more)

GOD, THE FATHER

GOD, THE FATHER.   To me God is the Creator. He has done a wonderful job creating everything that has life in it. Just think of all the plants, fishes and birds. He has created so many different kinds. When I think of the birds coming every spring to the same place and the same nest before they return flying back to the other side of the globe. God has created all the animals, and He has created you and me as man and women. Every little detail fits together. God is our Creator, but He is ... (read more)

WHAT ARE YOU DOING WHEN YOU START GETTING OLDER?

WHAT ARE YOU DOING WHEN YOU START GETTING OLDER?   When are you called an old person? I do not really know since I believe is has a lot to do with how one thinks and well one is. I remember my own fear for getting old when I was close to 60. My sister called me quite often and asked how I should celebrate my birthday and I changed the topic every time she asked. I went on a mission trip to Georgia a few weeks before I was turning 60. When I was there, I got a question about my age. I ... (read more)

DO YOU HAVE A SPIRITUAL HOME? Part 2

DO YOU HAVE A SPIRITUAL HOME? Part 2 I finished the first chapter by encouraging the pastor or the shepherd to act as a good daddy. A shepherd should feed the sheep and protect them from wolves and other wild animals that could in the worst case kill the sheep. Jesus is describing a situation when the shepherd left the 99 sheep in order to find one that was lost. Jesus is caring for each person as well as the entire group. Some pastors think that they are kind when they allow everybody to come ... (read more)

DO YOU HAVE A SPIRITUAL HOME?

DO YOU HAVE A SPIRITUAL HOME? Part 1 A newborn baby needs a safe home where he or she is taken care of, fed, and showed a lot of love. That is the same for a person that just has received Jesus as their Savior. He and she are like newborn babies. Many Christians leave a person when they have prayed the prayer of salvation without any assurance of further contact either by themselves or somebody else. That is the same as putting a baby on the street. I will first write to those evangelizing in ... (read more)

WE HAVE TO DIE TO LIVE.

WE HAVE TO DIE TO LIVE.   This is the theme for Easter. We are following Jesus from He was riding on a donkey into Jerusalem. A huge crowd was following Him and they honoured Him by laying branches on the street where He came. Jesus was sharing the Easter meal with His disciples and that was when He also established the Communion. Then the real battled started. They were supposed to be a night in Gethsemane to pray, but the disciples fell asleep, but Jesus was praying so hard that He was ... (read more)

THIS IS THE FAST THAT I HAVE CHOSEN

”THIS IS THE FAST THAT I HAVE CHOSEN”, SAYS THE LORD.   The last six weeks before Easter is often called Lent. The time before Christmas is called Advent, a time of waiting and expecting. The time before Easter is often a time of fasting and drawing closer to God. Fasting is a part of many religions. The Muslims are actually having Ramadan right now. They cannot eat and many cannot drink during daytime, but they can during the night. The purpose is to come closer to God and to become a ... (read more)

DO YOU KNOW THAT YOU ARE LOVED? Part 3

DO YOU KNOW THAT YOU ARE LOVED? Part 3 In the letter to the Hebrews the 11th chapter and the 6th verse we read that it is impossible to please God without faith. We must believe that He exists and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him. Why do I mention faith when I write about love? Because you must believe that you are loved. If you do not believe that God loves you with a non-conditional love, your entire life will reflect that. You might have some fear and you might worry ... (read more)

DO YOU KNOW THAT YOU ARE LOVED? Part 2

DO YOU KNOW THAT YOU ARE LOVED? Part 2 In the letter to the Romans the 8th chapter and from verse 35 vi read: “Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? For Your sake we are killed all day long; We are accounted as sheep for the slaughter. Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor ... (read more)

DO YOU KNOW THAT YOU ARE LOVED?

DO YOU KNOW THATYOU ARE LOVED? Part 1 I do not think that there is another word than the word love that has been used more in speech and in writing, but I still think that there are many that do not quite understand what the word really means. If I should ask different people what that word really means to them, I would get many different answers. The Bible is writing a lot about love and I will refer to some of them, but I will also keep to the title. Many are unfortunately living as they do ... (read more)
