IN WHOM AND IN WHAT ARE YOU TRUSTING?

Part 2

Today I want to start by referring to psalm 91. Many are reading this psalm every day during difficult times. When we had the swine-flu some years ago, I was leader for an institution for sick people in Norway. I read and prayed this psalm every day over me, the 100 patients and the employees and I proclaimed that no one should get the flu. No one did even if other members of the families got it. Psalm 91 became like an effective vaccination. Many were reading it every day during the last pandemic also. I did that in the beginning also, but then I stopped doing it. After some months I got covid 19. I am not saying for sure that my spiritual laziness was the reason for getting it, but it could. The second verse in the psalm says that the Lord is my refuge and my fortress and it continues to say that He delivers me from the snare of the fowler and from the perilous pestilence. The entire psalm is full of promises of protection. Do you trust in His promises?

The second letter to the Corinthians and the ninth chapter is often used for collecting money in the church. It is written in the 6^th verse that he who sows sparingly, will reap sparingly, and he who sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. It is also written that God loves a cheerful giver. In the 8^th verse we read: “And God is able to make all grace abound toward you, that you, always having all sufficiency in all things, may have an abundance for every good work.” In the tenth verse we read that God gives even seed to the Sower. We shouldn’t be afraid to give to God since we are promised to receive a rich harvest in return. I remember that a spiritual leader came to me some years back. He said: “I see that you are sowing, but you do not expect a harvest.” That was true. I didn’t want to give in order to receive, but I had forgotten that God had promised me a rich harvest. That was His law. It isn’t only a spiritual law. When a farmer sows, he is expecting a crop.

When we received Jesus as our Savior, we entered a covenant with the living God. When I went to Bible-school, we were taught about the Blood-covenant. They mentioned the covenant between king David and Saul’s son Jonathan. When the whole family of Saul was killed, king David asked if anybody was left. Jonathan had a son. His name was Mephibosheth and he was lame. A servant brought him and his family to the castle of king David and would eat at his table every day from that day on. Mephibosheth looked upon himself as a dog. We read in psalm 23 that the Lord is preparing a table for me in the presence of my enemies. Vi have a covenant with the Creator of heaven and earth. The Lord is saying that everything that belongs to Him is ours. WHAT A PROMISE.

We have a worship song that goes like this: “Not by might, not by power, but by the Holy Spirit, says the Lord.” We cannot trust the military or weapons. I do believe that it is good for a country to have a good defense. We can see how God allowed Israel to win wars in a supernatural way. When we read in the Old Testament, we see that God gave concrete orders on how to win wars. A lot of the battle is won in the invisible realm.

We read quite often in newspapers or watch on television about people being protected by angles. I was myself involved in an accident where a man from the insurance company said that I must have had angels. He had seen pictures of the destroyed car. Nothing had happened to me nor my friend. When I am out driving, I pray for the protection of the Blood and angels. I need protection from other reckless drivers and I do not want to hurt neither myself, others or any animals. When I am out flying, I pray for the captain of the plane and I place angels around the plane. I think that the other passengers are lucky to be on that protected plane.

I am doing counselling every day. Do I trust in books or do I trust in The Holy Spirit? I usually say that I have four ears and that I am listening to the person and The Holy Spirit at the same time. I cannot have counselling without the presence of The Holy Spirit. How can I tear down strongholds and drive out demons in my own strength? I cannot trust myself. I use the same principle when I teach and preach. There are different anointings, but The Spirit is the same. Many are saying that they cannot forgive because the things done were so bad. No, neither one of us can forgive, but in the power of The One called The Helper, we can. We cannot love in our own strength either, but we can love our enemies because of Jesus. He has loved us even when we were sinners. My love doesn’t reach so far, but His is unconditional.

When you get up in the morning, do you get stressed over all the things you are supposed to do? Do you forget that Jesus has promised to be with you every day? (Matthew 28:20) He is also saying in Matthew 11:28: Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” He is also saying in 1.Peter 5:7 that we should cast all our cares on Him because He cares for us. Just think if we could allow Jesus to be with us from the very beginning of the day and that we talked to Him before we went to sleep. I believe that we would have a good day then and maybe you would sleep better.
