FALSE AND TRUE UNITY
FALSE AND TRUE UNITY!
It is always good to start with a word from the Bible. You can look up Matthew 18:19. It is written: “Again I say to you that if two of you agree on earth concerning anything that they ask, it will be done for them by My Father in heaven.” At another place it is written that God will answer our prayers if we pray according to His will. It might be misunderstood by some people and they might think they can ask for wrong things. We do have a lot of promises about things that belong to us as children of God and we can therefore expect answers to our prayers when we pray for those things and agree with another person. Some people have asked me to agree with them and I have said no since I do not have faith for what they ask for.
There is a lot of confusion about God today. Who is He? Some people say that our God and Allah is the same and Christians and Muslims are worshipping God together. I do not believe that the Muslim Allah is the same as my God. Allah means god in Arabic, but that doesn’t mean that he is our God. I believe that we should be friends with Muslim people, but it is different to worship the same God when they are different. You cannot mix fire and water. I believe in Jesus and John 14:6 is saying that He is the only way to God. I cannot have a spiritual unity with a person who doesn’t believe that Jesus is the only way. I can be nice and friendly to that person, but we cannot have a spiritual unity. When these people ask me to pray for them, I say yes, but I clarify that I pray in the name of Jesus. Some people think that I am intolerant when I do not like Buddhists to bless my country. I am sure that the person who is blessing might mean it seriously, but it comes from the wrong source. Many people in New Age get a lot of knowledge about the spirit world, but the source is wrong. The revelation does not come from The Holy Spirit. I am not eating poison when I know it is poison.
I have joined prayer meetings where there has been totally chaos. People pray left and right, up and down. I mean that some prayers go to God and others are directed against the devil. Both might be right, but if everybody doesn’t pray the same prayer and have agreed on what to do, there is chaos and not a good result. Just think how powerful it will be when many pray the same thing in the same spirit.
I am very much aware of the fact that I am a child of God and a member on the Body of Christ. I can be together with Christians from different churches and we might think a little different or emphasize different aspect of our faith, but they must believe that Jesus is our Savior and that He has opened a living way to the Father through His death and resurrection.
It is Jesus and the Cross that make us one.
Some Christians talk about unity as all Christians are without any sin and live just in the spirit. Everybody who has received Jesus as their Savior has received a spirit that is pure and righteous, worthy of heaven, but it says in Philippians 2:12 that we should work on the salvation of our soul. Our soul and body are therefore not saved. We read in Matthew 5:23 that we should make up with our brother or sister if we think that they have something against you. This should be done before you give any money to the church. Do we practice this? No. If you gossip about your sister and brother, do not forgive somebody or live in sin, we cannot say that we have unity with this person. The Lord is saying that we will not be forgiven if we do not forgive. One cannot push a conflict under a carpet and call it unity.
God has given me a gift that makes me know when I have contact with an evil spirit. A spirit can very well be within a person’s soul or body. When these spirits actively oppose me, I cannot just close my eyes and join hands in unity with this person. We are not in one accord then and I do not believe that our prayers will be answered.
When my children were small and I did something stupid, I was quick to ask for forgiveness. Many Christians cannot say: “I am sorry.” In the Lord’s prayer we pray: “Forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors.” The devil might accuse us falsely, but if we live in sin and somebody discovers that, it might be that the Lord wants to reveal the sin and give you a chance to repent. Paul is actually saying that we should not eat together with those living in sin if they say that they are Christians. We should not be one with the sin.
NO ONE IS PERFECT, BUT LET US LIVE IN OPENNESS AND HONESTY. THEN WE CAN HAVE UNITY!
BLESSED EASTER!
