We do not need to be victims of Adam’s sin

1st of April

We can read about Eve and Adam in Genesis the third chapter. The devil in form of a snake tempted Eve. First he questioned Eve if God really had said that they should not eat of every tree in the garden and afterwards he said that they would not die if they should eat of the tree in the middle of the garden. She listened to the snake. She saw that the tree was good for food and that it was pleasant to the eyes and a tree desirable to make one wise. She ate of the forbidden fruit and she also gave it to Adam to eat. The devil has not really changed. He uses the same temptations to-day. The Bible says one thing, but the devil confuses people and questions the Word of God. Maybe the Bible is written for another time and not for this time, but he forgets that God is eternal and so is His word. We are also eternal beings and need the Bible just as much to-day as before. When the devil tempts us, he usually tempts us with something that seems good, at least for a short time. When King David sinned with Bathsheba, it was because she was desirable for the eyes. Something beautiful will often become a temptation for us. The outward appearance has become very important both now and then. The created is often more appreciated than the Creator. The tree could give her wisdom and that was tempting. It is nothing wrong with wisdom and a sound mind. The Proverbs are really encouraging us to seek wisdom, but the wisdom of God. Both Eve and Adam would in this case become equal to God and we can imagine how bad that would be.

They couldn’t even be responsible for their own actions. They accused somebody else. Eve blamed the snake and Adam blamed Eve. We must not forget that Eve at least admitted her sins. The results of their sins are a catastrophe even to-day. It led to the fact that Adam and Eve were thrown out of the garden and the earth was cursed and came under the dominion of the devil. It was also then that God said that the man should be the head of the woman, not before. God had thought that men should live in Eden and He had not created man with sin. We are created in His image and He is sinless. Sin came in by disobeying God. Sin is the root of all problems.

It did not take long before death came. Adam and Eve’s son, Cain killed his brother Abel on account of jealousy. You can read many places in the Bible that death came into the world by Adam. After sin came into the world, curses, sicknesses and all the bad things we can think of came as a result. The human beings were so evil that God regretted that He had created them and He wanted to kill them all including the animals and the birds, but one man was pleasing to Him and that was Noah. He was obedient to God and built an ark. When it was finished, he took his family and two of every creature, a male and female with him into the ark. When he had closed the ark, God sent a flood over the earth and everybody and everything died except for those in the ark. When the water sank and they finally could go out of the boat again, Noah built an altar for the Lord and made a burnt offering to the Lord. You can read about this in Gen.6-10. God made a new covenant with Noah and all the creatures and He said that He will never destroy them again and He placed a rainbow in the cloud as a sign of this. When we see the rainbow, we are reminded of this fact. When I read about Noah, I thought of the importance of obeying God. One person can change the course of history.

In Deuteronomy 28 we read about blessings and curses. The blessings came as a result of obedience toward the Lord. These are blessings that cover all areas of our lives. Curses are connected with disobedience. I think that you should read this and you will see that neither poverty nor sicknesses are mentioned under blessings. God wants everything good for His children. In Rom.6:23 you can read that the wages of sin is death. That is the ultimate desire of the devil. He tempts the people to sin in order to die spiritually. He also tempts them to sin with their bodies and this can sometimes lead to deadly sicknesses. He is lying about himself and about God and this can prevent people in believing and trusting the Lord. Sickness is a forerunner of death. Sickness came as a result of sin, but that does not mean that sick people are especially sinful. That is a misunderstanding and has created problems for sick people who are suffering enough already.

Thank God for His B-plan. Since we could not live happy and without any problems in Paradise and since sin came into the world with all its terrible consequences, God needed a plan to save humanity. He also wanted badly to have communion with His children. Since sin had gotten into the world, He could not find any human being without sin. The only one He could use as a perfect lamb, was His only begotten Son, Jesus Christ. He was supposed to be sacrificed for our sake. I do not understand how He came to earth as a baby, but He came as a little baby born by a virgin. We can for sure call it a miracle.

When He was living here on earth, He showed us how to live. He said that he could not do anything that the Father had not given Him and He showed us indirectly the father. He had no limitations except some physical ones. The Holy Spirit can be in several places at the same time, but Jesus was in one place at the time.

The main task of Jesus was the one He performed in connection with the Cross. That saved the entire humanity both before and after the time of Jesus. We can read in Col.2:14-15 that He wiped out the handwriting of requirements that was against us and nailed it to the Cross. He disarmed principalities and powers and made a public spectacle of them and triumphed over them. Jesus has paid the prize for the sins of the whole world. He wiped out our sins with His own blood and He said that if we accept His sacrifice, there is an open way all the way to the Father. The secret is to confess our sins and to thank Him for the sacrifice.

I want to quote Is.53:4+5 since those verses show us clearly that He bore more than our sins.

Surely He has borne our grief and carried our sorrows; yet we esteemed Him stricken, smitten by God, and afflicted. But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; the chastisement for our peace was upon Him, and by His stripes we are healed.” We no longer need to be slaves under sin. Gal.5:1 says that we should stand fast in the liberty by which Christ has made us free and avoid being entangled again with a yoke of bondage. Verse 16 says that we should walk in the Spirit and not fulfill the lust of the flesh. Jesus did not nail our will to the Cross and we can therefore choose to live by His nature in us.

We read in Gal. 3:13 that Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us. We therefore do not need to be a victim of curses any longer. The devil has not disappeared yet and he uses people to curse us, but when we see that, we can break it in the name of Jesus. I want to cry out loudly: You do not need to be poor, sick, fearful  or be bound by any bad habits. He, Jesus has taken everything upon Himself. I do not have victory in every area of my life, but I am in the process of grabbing hold of my inheritance as a child of God. The Word says that God shall supply all our needs in glory. (Phil.4:19) 2.Cor.9:8 says that we always should have an abundance for every good work. We do not live for ourselves any more, but for Christ who has given Himself for us. He came to save humanity. We have the same commission. Jesus cried out when He hung on the Cross: “It is finished.” He destroyed everything Adam had started and all the consequences. If you have Jesus in your heart and have made Him your Lord, you can consider everything that does not belong to Paradise as an enemy. You should fight the enemy in the power of God who has delivered you through Christ from the power of darkness:
