Part 1

I will start with Genesis 1. That chapter describes how God created everything. After He had created the man and the woman, He said: “Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it.” He gave them dominion over plants and animals of all kinds.

I believe that growing and increasing are divine principles. God has created both animals and human beings with a possibility to increase and to create more of the same kind. We see the same in nature. Even bad weeds have that in them, but also useful plants. It might even be difficult to get rid of good plants and weeds. I had a difficult time getting rid of some wild briars. I was forced to burn the roots.

I once asked the Lord how many children a couple should have. He answered that each couple should decide that for themselves, but they should never forget that children are a blessing. I have prayed for quite a few childless couples to have a child and some of them received not only one, but more children. Childlessness might be considered as a curse because it is the opposite of a divine principle.

When God asks us to multiply, I do not think that He only thinks about making children. No, I believe that it is a spiritual principle for many areas of our lives. I believe that when you are blessed, you have the potentiality in you to grow and increase. If you are an employee, you might ask God for favour. You might get promoted or get a higher wage. God is with you, but you must naturally do your best. I recently heard about a firm where they were all Christians, and they prayed in the beginning of the day for God to bless their work. They had also taken a weekend for prayers and fasting in the beginning of the year. This firm didn’t go bankrupt or loosing customers. No, they experienced the opposite.

Some people believe that it is sinful to get rich, but money can become a blessing. If you have Mammon as an idol, it is sinful. I do not believe that rich people are happier than the poor. When I was in India, I heard more laughter from the poor than the rich, and it was not caused by alcohol. I do not believe that God wants His children to be poor, but we should trust Him to be our Provider and He will us well. People that are sharing their goods and blessings with others, will usually get more to share with others. Go to Matthew 25:14. There you can read about the talents. There was a man travelling abroad, but before he left, he shared his talents with his servants. When he came back, he wanted to know what they had done with them. He praised the one who had received multiplication, but he punished the one who had dug the talents down in the ground. He actually lost his talents.

                     We are supposed to increase our blessings.

I have seen pictures from agricultural areas where they have prayed a lot. The quality of the crop was better, and everything was bigger and more than the normal amount.

                      God also gave us dominion over the earth.

We know too well that many have not used that right in a good way. We have seen way too many environmental catastrophes around the world because of bad and egoistic people.

The apostles had also learned about the principle of multiplication and increasing. In Luke 17:5 we read that they asked Jesus for an increasing of their faith, but Jesus said that if they had faith big enough as a mustard seed, they would be fine. A mustard seed is very small. I believe that our faith will increase the more we practise our faith. The same principle goes for every other area of our life. If I do not use a muscle, it will become weaker and weaker. We are now in the middle of Olympics and Norway took more and more medals. It takes lots of training and effort in order to get a medal. The sport-stars have increased their possibilities and the performances.

When I was baptized in the Holy Spirit, I received only a few words in tongues, but I used them and I got more and more words when I used the ones I had received. I can pray in tongues today at any time and it is flowing. I am personally very thankful for this gift. I prayed for a man the other day and he also received only a few words, but would get more and more. I look forward to hear him pray next time.

When someone starts a cell-group, a house-group or a bigger church, I believe they should have a goal to grow and increase. All growth is dependent on the conditions for growth. The plants need sun, right temperature and water. People need a foundation of security and love. A Christian group should be started by The Holy Spirit, and the vision should be clear. It might be good with a big vision, but it is not good if one doesn’t cultivate the existing plants. In other words: Take care of the people you have today. I have been in big churches where the membership is decreasing, and I have been in churches with a healthy growth. When something is decreasing, the pastors should ask God and themselves: What has gone wrong? Maybe it is time for a time of praying and fasting.

GOD WANTS HIS KINGDOM TO INCREASE!
