IF YOU LOVE JESUS, YOU KEEP TO THE WORD OF GOD.

 

These words have become so real to me lately. You will find them in John 14. Jesus says that you cannot love Him if you do not keep to the Word of God.

Many of the discussions in the Body of Christ have to do with the willingness to take the Word seriously and do we want to follow it? I have to mention the discussion around homosexuality. I believe that it really isn’t a discussion about homosexuality, but about the Word of God. I have nothing against homosexuals. Many of them are very friendly and I do not defend those who have treated them badly, but I cannot deny the fact that the Bible calls it sin. I want to agree with the Bible. Many of those condemning homosexuals are gossiping behind the back to their sisters and brothers in faith. That is also sinful. Some people are making some sins worse than others. It becomes like a hierarchy. All the sins that are made within the walls of the church might not be mentioned or they are mentioned as less important. I believe that God does not range sins the way we human beings do. Jesus has carried all of our sins, and He is willing to delete our sins completely when we confess them. (1. John 1:9)

When you are newly saved, you might not have read so much of the Bible, and you are not expected to follow the Word of God since you do not know what God is saying. When you made Jesus to your Saviour, you received a new nature, and I have heard several testimonies from people that chose to stop sinning after their new birth. If two people had lived together sexually, the newly converted could go home and tell their partner that they had to live separately until they got married.

Many former Muslims have told me that they hated Israel before they got saved, but when they got a new nature, they got a love for Israel.

Quite a few Christians have not read 2. Corinthians 6:14 saying that you should not become one with a non-believer or be under the same yoke. If you have read this and still choose to get married to a non-believer, you cannot love Jesus. That is His own words. They are loving their own lust and their partner more than Jesus. Do they come to heaven? I am so happy that that decision belongs to God and not to any human being. I believe that we will be surprised both negatively and positively when we come to heaven. We will probably be surprised to find some there that we hadn’t expected, and some will be missing.

I have recently been reading the letter to the Galatians. In chapter 5:19-21 we read about adultery, fornication, uncleanliness, lewdness, idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, dissensions, heresies, envy, murders, drunkenness and revelries. It says that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God. That is quite serious, but thank God, we can repent and be forgiven.

How often du you tell Jesus that you love Him? The Bible describes Jesus as our Bridegroom. All of us receiving Jesus as our Saviour can be called the Bride. That goes for both men and women. We have been washed with the blood of Jesus and received righteousness. That is our gown for the wedding. When you are getting married, you really want to be with the bridegroom. I really hope you love him. Some people do not think about Jesus as their Bridegroom. They might not have understood what He really did on the cross. He took our sins, carried our sicknesses and conquered the devil. (Isaiha 53:4+5 and Colossians 2:14+15) The more we understand how fantastic this it, the easier it is to love Him.

Many think that it is boring to be a Christian. Others think that Christianity means that we have to follow a lot of rules and regulations. God has given us certain regulations, but He has given us The Holy Spirit as a helper helping us to live by them.

Some people have a negative experience with their own father, and they might think of God the same way as their own father. They might be afraid of God and hesitate to get close to Him. In Romans 8:35 it says that nothing can sperate us from the love of Christ. Do you understand how much and how deeply He loves you. We read in 1. John 4:18 that the perfect love casts out fear. In fear we will find punishment.

Christianity is not a religion, but a relationship. We have relationship with God as out Father, with Jesus as our Saviour and our Bridegroom. We should also have a relationship with The Holy Spirit, our Helper. The more we spend time with them, the more we get to know them and the easier it will be to say that you love them. It will also be easier to follow the Word of God.
