HAVE YOU TAKEN YOUR POSITION IN THE BODY OF CHRIST?

 

Maybe you think that this is a stupid question. Nicodemus was also thinking that Jesus said something stupid when He said that Nicodemus should be born again. How could he enter his mother’s stomach once again? I do not talk about our own body, but about the body of Christ where Jesus is the head and we His members. We read in Colossians 1:18 that Christ is the head of the body, the church. We read other places that He is the head of the congregation.

I want to write down some verses from the letter to the Romans, chapter 12 and from verse 4: “For as we have many members in one body, but all the members do not have the same function, so we, being many, are one body in Christ, and individually members of one another. Having then gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us, let us use them in proportion to our faith.”

I think that it is easier to understand the body of Christ when we think about our own body. All parts of the body belong together. We do not have many part that we can live without. They say that we can live with one kidney, and we can also live without the appendix, but you cannot live without the heart. You will die then. In the body of Jesus we have common blood, the blood of Jesus. That’s the reason for our salvation and it is because of our salvation that we are members on the body of Christ.

When I talk to people, many are complaining about not knowing what part they are in the body. Do you think that a finger or a foot are in doubt about their functions? A finger is working together with another finger and the foot belong together with the calf.

I want so badly to make you understand who you are, and your position in the body and who you should work together with in the body of Christ.

We read in Isaiah 49:2 that he was called in the womb of his mother. If you are 50 or 60 do not know who and what you are, something is wrong. We read in Acts 13:2 that The Holy Spirit said: “Now separate to Me Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called them.” After that they laid hands on them and they were sent away.

We read in Ephesians 2:10 that we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works which God has prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.

Do you really believe that God wants to hide for you who you are and what you are supposed to do? No, He doesn’t want to do that. I encourage big children and young people to ask God to reveal His thoughts for them. It is important for them to know before they choose their carrier for example.

Quite a few people say that they have asked, but they do not think they got a clear answer. I have to ask if you have taken good time to be with the Lord? Are you full of worries or a lot of other thoughts in your mind? It might be more difficult to hear the signals from heaven then.

What kind of abilities have God given to you? That might be a little indication to help you see your destiny. Is it easy for you to come in contact with people? Maybe that mean that you should testify for people or work with people in different ways. Some people are scared that God would send them to Greenland. Are you longing for Greenland? No, I do not want to go there, might be your answer. If God wanted you there, He would have given you a longing for Greenland. God has called me out as a missionary, and I therefore love to travel. There are times when we have to do what is not our first priority, but God will never force us to do things we do not want over a longer period of time. The Word of God says that His yoke is easy. (Matthew 11:30)

Many Christians are comparing themselves with others. They might envy other Christians for their spiritual gifts. They might say: “that and that person is so clever because they can heal people.” That is not true. No one can heal anybody. It is Jesus in us that caan heal through the gift of The Spirit that we have received. I cannot not do I want to heal even a fly. We read in Mark 16 that all Christians should lay hands on the sick and they should recover. I am using the gifts of The Spirit frequently and boldly because I know that they are given to me.

  No one should compare himself with another human being.

If you compare yourself with others, you are using your energy on other things than yourself, and your own place in the body will stay empty. Are you wondering why the body do not function as it should? Too many places are empty.

Some start a job with wrong motives. I met some pastors in India who wanted an income, and they started a church. Some even started a Bible-school. These were neither called, equipped or anointed for this. Others are seeking power, or they want to be seen. They might think that their worth lies in their Position.

We are all sons and daughters of God the Almighty. We do not receive our heavenly reward for our own ideas, but our obedience to the calling God has for us.

None of the parts in the body can function independent of the other parts. If you cut off a toe or a finger, they will eventually die. Many ministries have slowly died because people have been proud, and they have isolated themselves from the rest of the body. Ask the Lord to lead you to the people you should work together with.
