DO WE FOLLOW THE WORD OF GOD? Part 2
DO WE FOLLOW THE WORD Of GOD?
Part 2
We are now in the middle of Advent. That means that we are celebrating something that we are waiting for, but Jesus has come and we are now more waiting for Him to come back. Jesus wasn’t born exactly on the 24th of December for 2025 years back. Both the day and the year is wrong according to researchers, but we are still following the Word of God when we celebrate the fact that He came to this earth as a baby. He is the main reason for celebrating Christmas. He came to show us who the Father is through His deeds here on earth. Jesus became the Saviour of the world before He returned to His Father in heaven. He is coming back to get His bride.
I could mention the names of many countries where it is dangerous to follow the Word of God. You could risk your life or end up in prison. Many think that we in Scandinavia live in freedom, but I will show you a couple of examples of the opposite. If you are educated as a midwife, you might not be able to get a job in Sweden if you do not want to participate in abortion. That is to take a life and according to a faithful Christian that is sinful. God can forgive you, but most of the midwives have taken the education to save life and to help women to give birth. I think it is terrible to force a person to kill in order to get a job.
Many educated pastors believe the Bible when it says that God has created us as man and women. (Genesis 1:27) If you refuse to marry two people of the same sex, you might lose your job in Sweden. They might have spent six years of their lives to be educated and all of a sudden they cannot practise as pastor of the Swedish church any more. Both pastors and midwives must take difficult decisions. This might be the same in other countries as well, but I know Sweden since I live here.
In quite a few counties it is forbidden to be a Christian and many are killed or ended in prison because of their faith in Jesus. I really admire all those choosing the Word of God risking their lives for their faith. There are times when their children are refused to get an education and the family might not get proper medical help. I know that many are thrown our of their families when they receive Christ as their Saviour. They might be as young as 14-15 years. The price of following the Word of God is extremely high in these cases.
Why should we follow the Word of God? One example is taken from Exodus 20:12. There it says that you should honour your mother and father and your days will be long in the land that God has given you. This is only one example with promises if we follow the recipe of the Word. The Word is written for helping us in everyday living, but also when we have to make major decisions. I am thinking of all those coming to me for advice about whom to marry. I cannot decide that, but one of the questions I ask is: “Is he or she a Christian?” Why do I do that? Because it is written in 2. Corinthians 6:14 that we shouldn’t be unequally yoked with non-believers. This is why you should be yoked with a person of the same faith. Some people are fooled by the devil to believe that the other person will be saved as soon as they get married. That might be a major lie.
Sex should be practised within marriage. If you have sex and you are not married, you are not following the Word of God. Many live together without being married and they say that that is the same as being married. Where do they find that in the Bible? The Bible warns us from adding and withdrawing anything from the Word of God.
Economy is an area where many Christians are sinful. Many think that it is ok to cheat on taxes. They say that this doesn’t hurt anybody, but we read in Matthew 22:21 that we should give to Ceasar what belongs to him and render to God what belongs to Him. The Pharisees had asked Jesus what they should pay to Ceasar and that was his answer. This makes it clear to me that we should follow the laws and regulations of our country. Many Christians want to make their own laws. I once heard a pastor saying that it is ok to lie in business. Why is it ok?
I come in contact with people who have been exposed to assaults and other serious experiences. Some are saying that they cannot forgive the person hurting them. I understand that that can be very difficult, maybe impossible in our own power, but The Holy Spirit, our Helper has promised to help us. When we forgive, we are not saying that what they did is ok. No, we forgive because God is saying that we should forgive. When we read Matthew 6;15 we see that if we do not forgive, God will not forgive us either. I do not dare to come in a situation like that.
I have the last two times mentioned a few areas where we easily could be tempted to go against the Bible. The devil is a liar, and he might say that it isn’t so dangerous. When we read Deuteronomy the 28th chapter, we will see that we will be blessed when we obey the Word of God. If we are disobedient, we lose the blessings. Disobedience opens up for curses.
Close that door!
Many of us have celebrated Christmas when I write next time. I will therefore wish you A PEACEFUL CHRISTMAS HOLIDAY!
