ARE YOU IN A CHURCH WITH COUNSELLING AND CARE?

God has created us with spirit, soul and body. He loves the whole human being, and He knows that all three parts belong together. If one part is suffering, the other two parts are also suffering. If one member of the Body of Christ is suffering, the other members should also suffer, but it isn’t always like that. Do you care if one of the members is suffering physically, psychically or spiritually? It is written several places in the Bible that you cannot love Jesus if you do not love your brother and you are not of God if you do not love your sister and brother. Revival will come through love. The worlds cannot see how much we love each other if we do not love each other as sisters and brothers. Our egoism is like a curse hindering people to see Jesus in us. In the story about the Samaritan, it was even a priest leaving the wounded person without helping him. Somebody asked me recently how that was possible. Jesus delivered and healed everybody. He was even touching those with leprosy. They were healed. They had no medicine for them at that time.

The Bible describes Jesus as merciful. When you pray for a child or pray for an elderly person, are you praying as it was your own child or your own mother and father? James 5 says that we should cry with those crying. We should also rejoice with those that are happy. I have unfortunately experienced that people get jealous if a sister or brother is successful and get blessed. They should get happy, but they get angry. Some come with questions and dare to say: “How can that person be blessed when I am a better Christian.?” I call that for pride.

I have been doing counselling for many, many years. Many have been helped, but a few are still suffering in some areas. Some are not willing to be helped either because they are not willing to change. My way of helping people is to go to the root of the problem. It might go back as far as before you are born. I brake generational curses quite often. I believe that more people should do that more often. I want to know when the problem started and how long it has lasted. Many are saying that the problem started in childhood. Did it start in the home, at school, in the family or among friends? I have an education in helping people and in the 80ties I was sitting four years with the Bible and The Holy Spirit learning about counselling. God was also teaching me about the schemes of the devil. I cannot expect everybody to work in the same way. I was leading counselling work in my church, and I wanted to expand the concept about caring for people, but the leaders were not with me. I saw people that couldn’t come to church if somebody didn’t drive them. Some needed to be driven part of the way. Others go too sick to come to meetings and praying. I wanted to have a team calling the sick asking if they needed some help or if they wanted to be prayed for. If they felt lonely, they might want somebody to come for a cup of coffee. Everything doesn’t need to be so spiritual, or it might be that the coffee-meeting becomes the most spiritual meeting. God does what He want when He wants. When I broke my foot, I had a great need for practical help. Unfortunately, it was not the church offering help. It was the people living far away who offered their help. It is in such cases you discover your real friends. I was willing to lead such an extensive counselling and care in the church, but I had no support from the leaders. I recently talked to a ninety years old man in Norway. When we talked together, he got very eager and he wanted me to come back in the fall and teach the church about love and caring for each other. He was going to talk to the pastor and I am curious: Will the pastor get just as exited? Jesus talks a lot about grace and mercy, and it should therefore be very natural for us Christians to practise love and mercy, but we have a flesh and that is too active too often.

Have you read Isaiah 58? That writes about the fast that God wants. He writes about helping people in different situations. God doesn’t get impressed when you torment yourself. No, He wants us to loose the bonds of wickedness and undo the heavy burdens and to let the oppressed go free. We should also share our food with the hungry and give shelter to the homeless. We should give clothes to those in need of that and we must never forget to show mercy to those of our own flesh. The Lord will guide us and He will satisfy our soul in drought. God will also strengthen  and heal our bodies. In Mark 16 we read that believers should drive out demons and lay hands on the sick and they will recover. This should be a sign for the believers. Are you a Christian believer?

I know people that have a ministry of stopping people at the street asking them if they have any pain in their body. Most people answer yes. Then they continue to ask if they might pray for them and most people say and many are healed or at least partially healed. Then it is easy to testify about Jesus and give Him the honour. The next step is to give them a tract or a Bible. Jesus says in Matthew 28 that we should make all nations to disciples and baptize them in the name of the Father, the Son and The Holy Spirit and to teach them everything that Jesus had taught the disciples. Jesus promised to be with them all the days of their lives, even to the end of the age. The greatest love and mercy we can show is to show people the way to heaven and to explain to everybody what Jesus has done for us.

Some churches have a way to reach people with the Gospel, but that doesn’t mean that they make them to disciples or take care of them as newly born babies. I ask the evangelist to catch the fish and I can clean it.

I am a little late this time partly due to vacation.

HAVE A NICE CONTINUATION OF THE SUMMER!
