Spiritual Comparisions

Part 10 of Spirit, Soul and Body.

SPIRITUAL COMPARISONS WITH THE BODY.

God has created the body of a woman to give birth.

In Gen.1:28 God says:” Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it.” We read in the verse before that He created them as man and woman. The man is made to plant life into the woman and she is made to receive it and to nourish the seed for nine months. By the end of nine months, a new person is ready to enter the world and she gives birth to a baby.

Growth is a divine principle. God wants many children both in the natural and in the spiritual.

He is longing for a close relationship with every person on the earth.

A woman is not constantly pregnant, but we should always be pregnant with one or more children. We should nourish them and pray for them. The Word of God is compared to a seed and nobody can believe without hearing the Word of God. We have to plant in good soil. A seed needs water, fertilizer and warmth in order to grow. We have to give the same to our spiritual embryo. One day the person will say: “I want to receive Jesus as my Savior,” and that person is born again.

There are many scriptures talking about the Church here on earth as One Body. I refer to 1.Cor.12. We read there about the gifts of the Spirit and our different duties. In verse 14 it says that the Body consists of many members. It says that every part of the body is important and that we should not compare one with the other. The foot should not wonder why it is not a hand and the hand should not question why it is a hand. I mentioned before that the invisible parts are more vital than those we see. It is therefore a waste of energy to compare oneself to a known evangelist. The faithful intercessors are more important than you can imagine.

In Eph.4:15 it says that Jesus is the Head of the Body. It continues in the next verse to say that the whole body is joined and knit together by what every joint supplies. You can read more about it yourself.

If a person looses too much blood, it will die. We cannot come to God without the Blood of Jesus. It was His blood that cleansed us from all sin and it is like a red carpet all the way to the Father. It is the Blood of Jesus that gave us Eternal Life. In any blood, there is life. In the natural we have different blood groups, but as Christians we have only one, the Blood of Jesus.

In Matt.15:11 it says that it is not what goes into the mouth that defiles a man, but what goes out of the mouth.

I look upon the Word of God as daily food and our spirit needs that just as much as our body needs food. I go to the toilet every day to get rid of the dirt. I do the same in the spiritual. I do not want unclean things to come out of my mouth. I will rather confess the unclean as sin.

I described our senses last time. I want to mention some examples of how they are mentioned in the Bible.

Our sight: In Mark 16 it says that Peter and the other disciples should see Him as He is. This was after the Resurrection.

We read in Matt.5:8: “Blessed are the pure in heart, For they shall see God.”

In Mat.13:13 Jesus talked in parables and said that even if they see, they do not see. In John 11:40 Jesus talks to Martha and says: “If you believe, you would see the glory of God.”

In Acts 4:20, Peter and John say that they can only talk about what they have seen and heard.

Our own testimonies are very convincing.

We are also able to “see” in the Spirit. We can see with the eyes of faith that what is not, as it is. In Rev. 3:18 it says that we should buy or anoint our eyes with eye salve so that we may see. God really needs to purify our eyes so that we can see what we are supposed to see and how He wants us to see things.

The hearing: To whom do you lend your ear? Samuel said to God in 1.Sam.3:9: “Speak Lord, for Your servant hears.” He wanted to hear from the Lord. So do I.

I am so happy that the Lord always listens to me when I come to Him. In Psalm 4:3 it says that the Lord will hear when I call to Him. God has ears and we are created in His image.

In Heb.2:1 it says that we must give earnest heed to the things we have heard.

John says in 1.John 1:3 that he only declares what he has seen and heard. When I teach or preach myself, I often refer to what i have heard from others. I listen and receive and it becomes part of me.

The smell: Moses writes about Isaac in Gen.27:27 that he smelled the smell of the clothing of Jacob and it was like the smell of a field that the Lord has blessed.

Paul says in 2.Cor.2:14-17 that we are to God the fragrance of Christ among those who are being saved and among those who are perishing. To one we are the aroma of death and to the other the aroma of life.

I have talked to Christians who smell demons. They say that the smell is bad.

In Ex.30 we read about Aaron. He was burning sweet incense on the altar. It smelt good. In the Book of Revelation we read that our prayers are like sweet incense.

I have a desire that my life should be like the smell of sweet incense.

The taste: We read in Psalm 34:8: “Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good.”

In Heb.2:9 we read that Jesus tasted death for us all.

We continue to Heb.6:4-7. It says that it is impossible to renew your repentance to Christ if you have tasted the heavenly gift and have become partakers of the Holy Spirit and have tasted the good word of God and the powers of the age to come.

We see from these examples that we can smell something that is either good or bad.

Touch: Job is saying in his book: “For the hand of God has struck me!”(Job 19:21)

In Psalm 105:15 we read that we should not touch God’s anointed ones.

When Jesus visited Peter, he found the mother-in-law ill. Jesus touched her hand and the fever left her.(Matt.8:15) The Bible says many places that we should lay hands on the sick and they will recover. We also read that many people tried to touch Jesus. A woman with a sickness in her blood tried to touch the garment of Jesus and He sensed that power had gone out of Him. She got immediately well.

In 2.Cor.6:17 we read that we as children of God should be separated and we should not touch anything unclean.

Paul is warning Timothy and say: “Do not lay hands on anyone hastily.”(1.Tim.5:22)

These scriptures are telling me that both negative and positive powers are transmitted by touch. We must therefore be careful when we pray for deliverance. Protect yourself with the Blood of Jesus.
